The list of guests and surprises programmed for the XVII Courmayeur Noir in Festival has just gotten longer.
Victoria Cabello (from MTV’s Very Victoria) will host the two encounters for youths and adults Non Aprite Quelle Porte, promoted by MINI and NOIRFEST and featuring two exceptional guests – Carlo Lucarelli and Dario Argento – programmed for Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at 6:30 pm at the Jardin de l’Ange.
There will also be a number of leading Italian filmmakers on hand to present or speak on films in development or preparation: the “gang” of Torino Nera, a self-produced, grotesque comedy/mystery debut feature; Matteo Rovere, with the first images of his highly current Un gioco da ragazze, produced by Maurizio Totti’s Colorado, which, in agreement with Sky, will present a sneak preview of the TV series inspired by Quo Vadis, Baby?; Tonino Zangardi and Monica Guerritore, respectively the director and actress of Sandrine nella pioggia, currently being edited; and brilliant debut filmmaker Ago Panini, accompanied by Michele Venitucci and Vanessa Incontrada to speak on Aspettando il sole. Last but certainly not least, successful duo Gabriele Salvatores and Niccolò Ammaniti will reveal their latest collaboration (Come dio comanda) after the triumphant I’m Not Scared.
Fiona May will present Guinea Pig, the short film by Antonello De Leo on torture, adopted by Amnesty International and in which the Olympic athlete stars, while the name of the “infernal” representative of the Colorado Tribù project that will take place in Courmayeur from December 5-8 is still top secret.
Music will also have a central role at the noir festival this year with: the celebration of the Beatles and the screening of the restored print of Help!, in collaboration with the organizers of the extensive exhibition on the “Fab Four” that will be inaugurated on December 7 in Aosta; a presentation by Stefano Covri and Fabrizio Canciani of several moments from their show Delitti e Canzoni; Daniele Costantini’s film Bocca di rosa (based on Fabrizio De André’s novel Un destino ridicolo), currently in the editing phase and which will be presented by the lead actors and Dori Ghezzi, De Andrè’s companion and president of his foundation.
In anticipation of George A. Romero, the list of the festival’s most awaited films in official selection expands with a new, surprise title: Stuck by Stuart Gordon, one of America’s most creative horror filmmakers and director of cult films Re-animator (1985) and Fortress (1993), co-screenwriter with Abel Ferrara of the remake of the Body Snatchers (1993) and one of the contributing directors of the series Masters of Horror.
