Cuccioli per i bastardi di Pizzofalcone

Neapolitan writer Maurizio De Giovanni took the Italian mystery scene by storm with a singular character, police commissioner Luigi Alfredo Ricciardi, whose investigations during the Fascist regime instantly won over Italian readers. From Il senso del dolore (2007) on, the series went from strength to strength, (finalists for the 2013 Bancarella Prize, the Viareggio Prize and winner of the Camaiore Prize in 2013). Il metodo del Coccodrillo earned De Giovanni the Scerbanenco Award in 2012 and introduced readers to a new character, Inspector Lojacono, who returned in I bastardi di Pizzofalcone in 2013 to launch a new series set in contemporary Naples. The series continued with Buio, Gelo and now Cuccioli, which revolves around a story of immigration and abandoned infants. The entire saga is now being turned into a TV series for Raiuno, directed by Carlo Carlei and starring Alessandro Gassmann, slated to air in the fall of 2016.
