“The film shakes you a bit, but I am not trying to point out the shortcomings of the social system. As it happens, depending on the level of economic development, each country manages its social problems, and as far as police violence is concerned, it exists everywhere, in Europe, in the US, etc. As it happens, Cameroon is a country I have known since my early childhood and to which I am deeply attached. I wanted to stick to a certain reality without cheating, without delusion, with honesty. The honesty and the sincerity that emerges from the film can make one cringe or smile. In fact, during post-production, I was in Cameroon to do the post-synchs, and everyone around me was smiling. No one was astonished. I was told: this is our daily life.” (Thomas Ngijol)
Thomas Ngijol has been seen on television (Le Grand Journal, Jamel Comedy Club, Selon Thomas), on the big screen in popular comedies (Case Départ, Le Crocodile du Botswanga, Fastlife, Black Snake), and on stage (À Block, 2, L’Œil du tigre). Untamable, his new feature film, was shot entirely in Cameroon, his country of origin.
