 09/12/2010
Elisabetti Bucciarelli has won the 2010 Giorgio Scerbanenco Prize for her novel Ti voglio credere, “for the maturity and the quality of the writing, for the richness and depth of its main characters, and for the ability to tackle social themes with originality and sensitivity and depict complex identities,” according to the motivation of the jury, which comprised Cecilia Scerbanenco (president), Valerio Calzolaio, Loredana Lipperini, Carlo Oliva, Gianfranco Orsi, Sergio Pent, Sebastiano Triulzi, John Vignola and Lia Volpatti.

The winning title is the latest adventure of Inspector Doris Vergani, straight from the writer’s previous book, Io ti perdono, who here is assigned a case that involves her directly, in which the need for justice will forcer her to make difficult choices. The powerful novel is an ensemble story of small, daily episodes.

Bucciarelli’s book was chosen from among five finalists that included: Marilù Oliva’s ¡Tut e pagaràs!, Maurizio de Giovanni’s Il Giorno dei Morti; Gian Mauro Costa’s Il libro di legno, and Gianluca Morozzi’s Cicatrici.
