On March 6, Giorgio Gosetti passed away. His tenacity, combined with the boldness of a visionary and the spirit of an eternal boy full of optimism and trust in others and in the future, are the qualities he taught us and passed on to us. In their name, and in his memory, we will carry on

Dear Friends of Noir, since March 6 we have suspended updates on this site, because there are never words quite adequate to express the pain that the loss of Giorgio Gosetti has caused all of us who work for this festival – those who witnessed its birth and those who joined later, even recently, in this beautiful adventure that is Noir in Festival.

We have lost not only its founder, but our companion, friend, teacher, advisor, mentor, and a giver of dreams – as well as of reproaches when we did not live up to the passion and dedication he always poured into his long career and his personal life. Nothing will ever be the same without Giorgio, and everything was great and beautiful with him.

Those who read us know well who Giorgio Gosetti was, and those who do not can discover it in every corner of the web, which since March 6 has been filled with his memory. We will always know who he was, and he will always remain in our hearts: a special person. Now begins the difficult path without his guidance, at the most challenging time for film festivals in Italy – a country that no longer invests in culture and, in doing so, risks condemning itself to intellectual and moral decline. But Giorgio’s tenacity, combined with the visionary boldness and the spirit of an eternal boy full of optimism and trust in others and in the future, are the qualities he taught and passed down through more than a generation: in their name, and in his memory, we will move forward. Long live Noir, long live Giorgio Gosetti.
