Yamada is a powerful Yakuza boss whose entire family has been assassinated, save for his 10-year-old granddaughter Yuriko. To protect her, he sends her to Italy with a bodyguard but the plane is forced to make an emergency landing in Russia due to technical problems. The bodyguard disappears and Yuriko finds herself alone in a foreign land. While Yamada offers ten million Euros to whoever finds her, and promises to kill anyone who hurts her, Yuriko meets Alexey. “We thought it would be interesting to look at Russians through the eyes of a Japanese girl. The Russians and Japanese are very different people. What’s good for Russians could be very bad for the Japanese, and vice versa. We worked with the best Russian and Japanese actors. Chika, our young Japanese actress, was our favorite. The shoot wasn't easy, but sometimes we were laughing on set. I hope that the Italian public will find something funny in our movie too!” [Sergei Bodrov and Gulshad Omarova]
