Kevin Macdonald wins the Black Lion

The audience of the 24th Courmayeur Noir in Festival has bestowed the Black Lion on:
Black Sea by Kevin Macdonald

The film achieved a consensus of 88,4%.
For the first time, this year the audience at the Palanoir was given the chance to decide the festival’s top prize, the Black Lion provided by the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta.
On hand to assign the Black Lion to Black Sea was the region’s Vice President and Councillor for Tourism, Sport, Commerce and Transport, Aurelio Marguerettaz.

"The People’s Choice Award is a simple, straightforward way to feel out our fans’ mood," declared directors Giorgio Gosetti and Marina Fabbri, "and we’re pleased this is happening in a year in which many of the films on our lineup will hit the theaters with the festival’s own seal of quality." The competition for the Black Lion thus becomes a testing ground for the prospects of the films upon release.
