Helen, a pastor, is approached by scientist Lisbeth with a desperate plea for help. A young man was sent to a high-security psychiatric ward after killing an elderly couple that tried to help him, and attempted suicide while rambling about God. Two year later, after taking part in an experiment led by Lisbeth to try and humanize inmates by assigning them pets, and having seemingly improved, the young man has suddenly gone ballistic. Afraid that he will attempt suicide again, the two women begin a journey into his mind and soul in an attempt to save him.

"There are stories that show up at the strangest time. Stories which you cannot shake off and keep returning to. Stories which are so fiercely attractive that they are constantly present in your consciousness - like the story about a young murderer." [Søren Kragh-Jacobsen]

Søren Kragh-Jacobsen graduated from the FAMU School of Film in Prague and also made his debut in 1978 with Wanna See My Beautiful Navel? In 1981 he directed Rubber Tarzan, followed by Isfugle (1983), Emma’s Shadow (1988), The Boys from St. Petri (1992) and the English-language The Island on Bird Street (1997), which screened in Competition at the Berlinale, where it won him a Silver Bear for the score. His 1999 Dogme film Mifune also played in Berlin, winning both the Audience Award and Silver Bear. In 2003 he directed Skagerrak and in 2008 the thriller What No One Knows. Kragh-Jacobsen has also enjoyed a successful music career. In 1976 he released the album Hinkeruder på Motorvejen and wrote the soundtrack to Wanna See My Beautiful Navel? as well. In 2012, he and his band Oktober toured Denmark.
