Il paese che amo [Marsilio]
Ljuba Marekovna is just a girl who grew up in the slums of Krakow, and went on to become the queen of private TV, a heartless spy in the service of the Communist Party and much, much more. Tito Cobra is the first Socialist Prime Minister in history and has his job cut out for him keeping the country straight. Andrea Sterling, the boogeyman of the secret service, risks losing his place in the world after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Salvo Riccadonna (a.k.a Dracula), the jewel in the crown of the Cosa Nostra, is ready for the hits that will bring down the Mafia Commission. Domenico Incatenato, a hard-line judge and loving father, prepares to light fuse that will explode the political party system and will raze the first republic to the ground. Against the backdrop of a corrupt and ragged Italy, the characters fight it out among the last vestiges of the Cold War and the dawn of the new world. During the rampant years of yuppy-ism and governmental treachery, Mafia bombs and kickbacks. The novel is a portrait of a country on the brink, its hands stained with blood, its pockets full of dirty money.

Simone Sarasso’s debut novel Confine di stato was published by Editrice Effequ in 2006. After selling out in just over three months, it was acquired and reprinted by Marsilio the following year. Confine di stato is the first volume of the "Dirty Italian Trilogy". In 2009, Marsilio published Settanta and United We Stand, respectively the second volume of the Dirty Trilogy and an apocalyptic graphic novel, set in the fictional political world of the triptych. In 2010 he published J.A.S.T. - Just Another Spy Tale, co-written with Daniele Rudoni and Lorenza Ghinelli. In 2012 he wrote Invictus - Costantino, l'Imperatore guerriero, and Colosseum. Il paese che amo is the last installment of Dirty Trilogy.
