The television special Pipì, Pupù, Rosmarina e il Flauto Magico explores - and contaminates -Mozart’s celebrated opera, incorporating our three small, goofy protagonists (Pipì, Pupù and Rosmarina) and their usual themes (obviously in a farcical key) into the story, which is simplified for the show’s target audience of children. It is the first in a series of TV specials on opera that aim to introduce children to the classical music classics with the help of Pipì, Pupù and Rosmarina.

Enzo D'Alò is considered one of the most important figures in animated cinema. He is the only European filmmaker to have made five successful animated features that were released worldwide. He made his directorial debut in 1996 with The Blue Arrow, based on a fable by Gianni Rodari, which won two Nastro d’Argento awards and a David di Donatello for Paolo Conte’s soundtrack. Two years later he made Lucky and Zorba, based on a novel by Luis Sepúlveda, to great audience and critical acclaim (special Nastro d’Argento and People’s Choice Award in Montreal). In 2001, D’Alò made Momo, based on the tale by Michael Ende, and followed it up with Opopomoz (2003), a new look at traditional Neapolitan nativity tales.
